It is a beautiful painting,...Thanks for your reply. It is a beautiful painting, but I found another that was even more germaine to what I'm doing. It's easier to use, as well, since it's in the public domain. It has been fairly widely used, but I think that's a plus rather than a minus because some people will understand the connection. Here's some info on that one:

"Burning of the Frigate Philadelphia in the Harbor of Tripoli, February 16, 1804". Oil on canvas, 60" by 42", by Edward Moran (1829-1901), signed and dated by the artist, 1897. It depicts the USS Philadelphia, previously captured by the Tripolitans, ablaze after she was boarded and set afire by a party from the ketch Intrepid, led by Lieutenant Stephen Decatur. Painting in the U.S. Naval Academy Museum Collection. Gift of Paul E. Sutro, 1940. Official U.S. Navy Photograph, KN 10849 (Color). National Museum of the U.S. Navy

This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was published (or registered with the U.S. Copyright Office) before January 1, 1925.
connect2europehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12653454385018754553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3721564038013568631.post-73984524195079503322020-12-22T06:59:49.096-08:002020-12-22T06:59:49.096-08:00Apologies for the very slow reply. If you are still interested in getting permission to use it, I guess you would have to contact the owner of the painting, as they would hold copyright if the artist is no longer living. The painting
was sold by Vallejo Gallery, so you could try contacting them to pass on a message to the owner. Here's a link to the sale.https://www.vallejogallery.com/item_mobile.php?id=1985jeronimushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09099993403604440221noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3721564038013568631.post-35205744455258828362020-05-08T10:21:48.899-07:002020-05-08T10:21:48.899-07:00My name is Dr. Gordon Saunders. This book is the third in a series. The first, "A Drummer in Red", was published in January of this year, and the second, "The Blood of Patriots and Tyrants", will be published in July. The third book is scheduled for publication in January 2021. The tentative title is "The Fever Spreads." You can see more about the books on my website, (gordon-saunders-writer.com). I would need a higher resolution version than this and, of course, am willing to pay for permission to use it. Thank you for your consideration.connect2europehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12653454385018754553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3721564038013568631.post-52103110561834293882020-04-28T09:13:41.156-07:002020-04-28T09:13:41.156-07:00How may I contact the author to ask about copyrigh...How may I contact the author to ask about copyright permission to use this as a cover image for a novel?connect2europehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12653454385018754553noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3721564038013568631.post-1696167371641115852020-01-28T00:57:48.041-08:002020-01-28T00:57:48.041-08:00WOW Amazing Paintings WOW Amazing Paintings MukundJainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15072315048236321714noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3721564038013568631.post-44654642783799752262019-12-03T02:01:44.821-08:002019-12-03T02:01:44.821-08:00Very informative and useful historical post. Both on canvas and Artist Board as well. He use of the movement of the water along with his great view of waves gives you the feeling that you are right there while he was painting his work! I also have collected a few of his paintings he did in the home of Shirley Russell a young new artist he was teaching and staying with when he first came to Honolulu & the Kahala area near Diamond Head back in in 1918 to 1924 he also painted a fantastic small oil painting in 1922 of Shirley Russell as nice personal gift to her for her kindness. (A few days before she passed away I went to her her home to visit, and her son John Russell Sold it to me. It is now in a very special place to be taken care of? He taught Shirley the ways to paint the color of the waves & water that she learned to do from that time on in all her Seascapes in all her Hawaiian Oils & Watercolors from that time on, until today you can see the hand of L. Walden in all her works!! He was a great Painter and loved to share his knowledge with many of the the local artist that were in the Hawaiian Movement of Local Artist in the best period of the early Hawaiian art Movement 1880 to 1940's and we all are very lucky that he came to Hawaii t teach and paint the Hawaiian Islands & Volcano's too!
