Coastal Path, 2008, Oil and Wax on Linen, 200 x 130 cm . John Beard has won some of the most prestigious art prizes in Australia. His use of a subdued, limited palette (often black and white), and nebulous textures (via use of wax) on a large scale, produces an abstract, poetic effect, like that of Far Eastern ink paintings.
Though it evokes a recognisable subject, the simplicity of this work pushes it toward abstraction. Abstract elements, such as pattern, can lend visual power to a painting.
Lisa is not specifically a marine artist; she does meticulous, enigmatic, slightly surreal landscapes.
She is represented by philip bacon galleries , Brisbane, Australia.
